A series about bodybuilding and the strongest muscle of all -

The Heart.

EX Weeks Out is a half hour single-cam comedy that follows 30-something’s Lucy after she spirals when her husband of seven years asks for a divorce via text. Heartbroken, reeling, and searching to find herself, Lucy does what anyone who’s just had their heart ripped out would do - a bodybuilding competition.

Synopsis:

Lucy, an extremely talented ad executive, gets her guts knocked out of her after her husband, Dan, asks for a divorce via text. After she wakes up on her front lawn with a broken heart and a bad hangover, she seems destined for a life of donuts and red wine mustaches.

With the help of great friends, a little dog, and some muscle memory, Lucy decides to stop hiding behind her work and her marriage and “do something for herself”.

Inspired by the literal girl next door, she decides to compete in a bodybuilding competition. Of course, like any comeback story, once Lucy finally sees some progress, shit hits the fan.

Does Lucy have what it takes to make it to show day? Can bodybuilding heal the strongest muscle of them all - the heart?

Find out soon. She's EX WEEKS OUT.

A message from the Writer

EX WEEKS OUT is a somewhat, kinda, sorta biographical narrative and i wrote it...cause why? Because there's a community of BOLD, DEDICATED, BADASS WOMEN who compete in bodybuilding to feel STRONG, to prove to themselves they can, and to feel the glory of stepping on that stage and saying "I DID THAT". This is for them. We deserve a story to inspire US .

Yeah, it might take a heartbreak to spark a journey, but to finish, it takes something else. Something you never knew you had inside you. And you will NEVER hear any woman say, “I compete for a man.”

This is my love letter to all of us, who found ourselves under a barbell, looking directly into the eyes of our reflection saying, “There you are.” Life is always gonna throw curve balls, but with an epic training montage, or two, or three, we can do anything.
